Art and Wine
in the heart of Etna
Tenuta Ferrata was born out of a desire to invest in nature, in the land, and in the future of the winery's land that now stands in Castiglione di Sicilia, in the heart of the Volcano World Heritage Site.
Wine "As it used to be made"
Crossed by the Circumetnea railway line that gives it its name, the farm stands on volcanic soil at 650 meters above sea level.
A part of its 90 hectares of countryside has been transformed into land cultivated with indigenous vine varieties: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Catarratto.
The vines, made from espalier and bush-trained vines, are developed in a breezy area where the low-mountain climate, characterized by strong temperature swings, gives the wines a strong imprint.
